Marketing Manager

Role summary

We’re looking to recruit a Marketing Manager with a strong background in digital marketing tactics, a creative eye and a passion for the technology sector.

Working closely with the Commercial Director alongside the Client Success and Sales teams, this is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and commercially-savvy marketer, eager to showcase their creativity and marketing flair, in an environment where they can make a real impact on our growing business.

We’re starting from scratch with our marketing team, so there’s a huge amount of growth potential. It really is your chance to build something new and exciting within the commercial team of 6B.

The idea would be to build your team up as the next step, which is why we’re looking for a generalist marketer who’s comfortable with a wide variety of marketing principles and great project management skills.

It would suit someone who’s used to a fast-paced agency environment, who’s either been in the marketing field for a few years and is ready to lead for the first time, or you’ve already got some experience of management in a larger organisation, but you’re looking to put your stamp on a company now, whilst boosting your development.

The starting salary band for this role is £35-45k, depending on skills and experience, but we’re open to talented applicants who fall outside of that bracket.

 

Your responsibilities

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you’ll be responsible for the management of and reporting on all of our marketing activities. To start with, it’s just you, so we need someone with enthusiasm and energy who’s not afraid to get stuck in – but the bigger ambition of leading a team and managing their strategy and output is your next natural line of progression with us.

Don’t worry – we’ll support you every step of the way in building that team, so we can grow a high-performing department that brings results to 6B. Your responsibilities include the planning and overseeing the execution of:

  • Marketing strategy
    • Monthly and quarterly report creation
    • Regularly communicating the department’s ROI, results and suggestions for improvement to our Board
    • Creating business cases for new tools, processes or resource that will take our activity to the next level
  • Market knowledge
    • Develop a strong understanding of our products and services, keeping up to date on sector trends and where the market is moving
    • Be the main point of contact for 6B stakeholders for all marketing requests and expertise, regularly feeding back to the business during company meetings or supporting the Commercial Director with this
    • Conducting competitor analysis and key sector reports
    • Working with sales to construct buyer personas, targeted sector strategies and associated campaigns
  • Lead generation
    • Supporting the sales team with critical collateral and pitch material
    • Creating ads and content, reporting on their conversion success
    • Seeking out new leads and partnerships that will boost 6B’s awareness in key sectors, (eg networking opportunities, sponsorships, collaborations etc)
  • Website and performance
    • Continuously work to optimise and improve our online presence for lead conversion and a top user experience, auditing and reviewing blogs, case studies, SEO content and so on
    • Use tools like Google Analytics, Google Ads, HotJar and SEMRush to report on performance and suggest improvements
    • Take ownership of the creation of digital media to enhance our online presence – eg videos, infographics, animations, development updates
  • Brand and collateral
    • Take ownership of 6B’s brand, content and collateral, and all assets associated
    • Ensuring all assets are in keeping with the brand guidelines and tone of voice, including creds decks, case studies, branded documents and so on
    • Ensuring any requests for new collateral go through the proper processes, defining those processes where necessary
    • Working with stakeholders and external suppliers to execute new requests
  • PR and communications
    • Briefing in press release requests to 6B copywriters or external resources, such as PR agencies
    • Managing the relationships with any PR or communications partners to ensure maximum output
    • Owning the PR activity schedule and ensuring it is kept to, reporting on ROI, reach and engagement where applicable
    • Devise and take ownership of the 6B social channel strategy, both paid and organic
    • Develop new partnerships and explore new platforms that will help enhance our sector reputation (eg working with Client Success to ensure regular updates to our Clutch profile and reviews)
  • Events and campaigns
    • Whether virtual webinars or in-person roundtables, you’ll organise, promote and execute 6B events
    • Promote brand awareness in our target sectors, as well as bring in high-quality leads for our sales team
    • Keep an active, up-to-date events and awards calendar, managing the creation of entries where appropriate for 6B
    • Strategise, execute and report on a wide variety of 6B campaigns including: ABM, sector-specific, product-specific, CRM-focused, employer brand focused
  • Team management
    • Hiring, developing and mentoring talented creatives as their line manager
    • Responsible for appraisals, 1-2-1s, salary reviews
    • Managing their workload and activity to deadlines
    • Responsible for creating and managing all team activity calendars, content schedules, campaign trackers, processes and so on to ensure consistent progress, timely execution and accountability

 

Skills, experience and traits you need to have

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the marketing field, preferably B2B
  • Ability to lead a team of specialists – both directly and indirectly including copywriters, external PR and marketing agencies
  • Strong knowledge of lead gen and brand awareness principles, with proven experience in the planning and execution of a marketing strategy, whilst maintaining budgets
  • Top-notch organisation and project management skills
  • Clear understanding of data-driven marketing principles; digital user experience and online customer journey knowledge
  • A keen eye for detail and good design
  • In-depth knowledge of performance marketing tactics, tools and KPIs (including SEMRush, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and Google Ads)
  • Good working knowledge of typical marketing automation tools (eg campaign software, social media scheduling, content creation – doesn’t need to be platform-specific)
  • Understand channel strategy and management
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Confident communicator – pitching concepts is no problem for yo
  • Proactive attitude, happy to take initiative and run with their ideas
  • Creative thinker always willing to share thoughts and opinions

Nice to haves

  • Previous experience of Sales and Marketing for digital/technology products
  • A good understanding of the development lifecycle of websites and mobile applications
  • Experience managing paid social media campaigns across Facebook Ads and Linkedin Ads
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • Prior role within a digital agency setting, or similar fast-paced environment, would be beneficial
  • Previous experience of partnerships marketing would be beneficial
  • Previous experience pitching or in client-facing roles would be beneficial
  • Relevant qualifications and credentials
