What are some of the common barriers/challenges you have had to overcome to carve out a successful career in tech/in general?
As I mentioned in a previous question, digital is a fast paced industry. Tech stacks and style preferences are constantly evolving; you need to be constantly learning to keep ahead of the game and don’t be scared of change.
What advice would you have for someone looking to follow the same career path?
First and foremost, it’s important to have a strong understanding of the industry and the businesses that you’ll be working with. This means staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies, as well as developing a deep understanding of your clients’ goals, challenges, and pain points.
Another key skill for success in this field is communication. As a client success professional, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with your clients, and effective communication is essential to this. This means being able to listen actively, empathise with your clients’ needs, and communicate clearly and effectively to address their concerns and provide solutions.
Finally, it’s important to be adaptable and flexible. The client success field is constantly evolving, and it’s important to be able to adapt to new technologies, changing client needs, and evolving business models. This means being open to new ideas and approaches, and being willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities as they arise.
Overall, a career in client success can be incredibly rewarding, but it requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to learn and grow. By developing a strong foundation of industry knowledge, communication skills, and adaptability, anyone can succeed in this exciting and dynamic field.

If only I could take bits from different people and mould them into one person that would be my ideal… If it’s someone in the technology sector it would be Gia Lyons, Client Success Leader at LinkedIn.
