“What I love about working with WordPress is its sheer versatility. It’s the Swiss Army knife of content management systems; you can literally do anything with it.”

Our in-house fountain of knowledge when it comes to WordPress, Daniel Edwards is 6B’s Head of WordPress. If there’s something that can be done on this platform, he’s done it before and knows the best way to execute it.

With over seven years’ experience, Daniel is our lead developer on any WordPress project. One project that really stands out is the work he did for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust consisted of multiple hospital sites, each site being made up of various wards and services – all of which had a separate website, domain and set of logins. Thanks to Daniel and the rest of our team, we were able to build a centralised platform using WordPress that was capable of hosting all 250 websites. This unified vast amounts of information into one integrated, intuitive and responsive system, all while retaining content autonomy which was key for the various audiences.

“With WordPress, the possibilities are endless. It allows for a rich amount of personalisation and extendibility, without compromising on how simple and intuitive it is to use on the CMS side.”

Since joining 6B, our Frontend Developer James Schofield has worked on a wide spectrum of WordPress projects, using his knowledge of the platform to improve usability and accessibility for users.

He’s worked on projects for clients that include IgniteData, Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, Sugarhouse Properties, Living Well Schools, and Embracing Future Potentials. James leverages a combination of the platform’s in-built features and handy plugins to enhance the overall user experience for our clients and their customers.

When working on the Lincolnshire Housing Partnership project, James was able to make improvements to their website to enhance speed, accessibility and user experience. In real terms, this meant low income families could view affordable housing, make applications and access information about their tenancy far easier than before, which was incredibly rewarding.

“WordPress offers me the flexibility and freedom to match my creative ambition as a designer. You can rapidly change, alter and update content in a matter of clicks, which is a huge bonus for clients when we hand over sites.”

Any client that chooses WordPress to build their website naturally has a keen eye for design, which is music to ears of our Head of Design, Phil Millward.

Phil joined us at the start of the year, having flexed his creative muscles on household names like Leeds Bradford Airport, Clear Channel and Cauldron Foods, and he brings with him bags of talent and a real flair for design.

He’s an award-winning designer, who will help redefine the web propositions of all our clients and will elevate the design of any WordPress project he works on.

“It’s estimated that the WordPress framework powers 40% of the internet. It’s ubiquitous, and as a developer, this is incredibly exciting, as it means I get to work on a variety of projects.”

Marcin Lentner joined 6B as a Frontend Developer, specialising in WordPress, and has worked on a number of exciting projects since joining the team.

The work he’s completed to date spans clients from Wakefield Council to SME businesses like Bryant Plastics, with a particular focus on supporting legacy WordPress sites and ensuring they match the latest standards in security.

He provides the clients he serves with easily maintainable yet dynamic admin portals, which help them to populate content seamlessly within a responsive website package. The work he did on a project for Wakefield Council allowed the client to create events at the click of a button, helping them to promote their venues and attractions to a wider audience.

“The best thing about WordPress is the surrounding community and ecosystem. Because it’s so widely used, this opens up infinite possibilities when architecting the right solution.”

As 6B’s Technical Architect, Toby Callinan is responsible for instigating all of our WordPress projects, creating the foundation of the sites we build, designing how they’ll work, and then offering support and liaising with clients throughout a project’s lifecycle.

With over 22 years’ experience doing just this day in, day out, Toby brings with him a wealth of experience in architecting, building and managing all manner of website projects, from small blogs to high traffic ecommerce sites.

One of his favourite projects to date with 6B was the work he completed for the National Day Nurseries Association. The client was keen for a simple, easy to use, but flexible CMS to help drive their web content, which Toby and the team were able to deliver.

Testimonials

“We’ve enjoyed working with 6B immensely over the past few years to launch and further develop the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust website. From the initial discovery phase through to planning and delivery, the project has been a success, and we’ve continued to work with the team to enhance, maintain and improve the platform through regular discussions and planned maintenance.”

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust: Centralising content for simplicity

The first integrated trust of its kind on the English mainland would need a digital solution that was just as innovative.

6B partnered with the newly formed Somerset NHS Foundation Trust to give its community of patients a single point of contact for the information and content they needed to access.

The WordPress website we designed incorporated over 180 standalone services and empowered staff to manage content autonomously, whilst improving the overall user experience for patients.
